Told you so

Here is another family deep sleep specialist. We should seriously consider hopening a sleep clinic.

Drogba is also a keeper of the bed. Or may be she is occupying. However you see it, she would be an excellent asset for the sleep clinic.

Ne pas deranger

Ne pas deranger, merci, je bronze! Drogba.
PS: Also dreaming  about brother and sister Leo and Simba who went to their awesome forever home today. Goma and I are going to ours in a couple days!

Super crequions

It has become clear to me that the pets in our family have super powers. Mine are well known: I have more bouncing energy than superman and a kangoroo combined. Kira and Nala have survived I don't know how (mais non, not because of me, because of those idiots who did not threat them right in their previous lives), Atlas would beat Michael Phelps any day of the week, the kittens eat on their own at only 4 weeks, and Buja is the best manered cat in history--she knows how to eat with a fork.
If nothing else, all this justifies the existence of this silly blog!

Introducing Leo

Voila! Leo has finally agreed to show his/her face! Speaking of leopard, just want you to know that Kira and I are good guard dogs against the leopard cubs on TV. We have made it very clear they should stay in the TV box...Mainils seems to find that funny. Silly humans, don't they know leopards could eat them?! What would they do without us, wrouaf.

The funky ones--second episode

Drogba, who likes action
Buja,
who likes
her little ones
                                                Goma, the mystery
                                         Simba, who likes hugs

Call me uncle Jaffar! Buja has given birth to 4 funky and adorable kittens last night.
Their families were identified before they were even born!
Wraouaf, enough blabla, here they are:
Buja is being a very good mom, she hasn't left her little ones the entire day! Marie is bringing her food though, no worries. Tentative names for my mice-looking cat nephews: Leo (looks like a leopard), Simba (looks like a lion), Drogba (looks like Drogba) and Goma (Marie was supposed to see the city of Goma this weekend and instead she saw...Goma...Buja's first born).
I also have a funny story about Kira...Mainils were on holiday this week, so we got to go to Doggy camp. It's a farm with many dogs, where we have our own little inside houses (I shared one with Kira) and where a nice lady takes care of us. So yesterday the Mainils came to pick us up to go back home all together. I liked doggy camp but I was so happy to see my masters I could barely contain myself. I was jumping and floating all over the place. Kira, true to form, also, elegantly got out of our little house, said hi to everyone, and went back to the little house! Sister Kira sometimes remains afraid of disturbing people, a legacy of her experience with her previous idiot master whose bott I am still looking for! Prend garde, idiot! Anyway, we all got home safely and are happy to be back to home sweet home! Finally but not least, congratulations Mama Buja!

Un ptit coup de fer

"Bon Voila j'ai fini de laver mon gros ventre. Maintenant un petit coup de fer SVP! Avec les mains, pas le fer!!" Buja

Mama Buja

Mama To Be Buja. Just compare with the zzzzzzzzzzz pic below.  Looks like a vet royally messed up his sterilization procedure...Kittens to come in Bujumbura. Available in Bujumbura toward end of the year. Or in Belgium/US if Buja ends up travelling with a friend on Sunday. Who wants a Burundian kitten? Serious pet parents only.

American postcard

Hi all, enough cat stuff, seriously.
So Kira and I are having a relaaaaaaxing summer:

And we receive a postcard from Maine from Atlas, so let me read it to you:
Hmm, my reading position

"Dear Atlas and Kira, I wofe you are doing well. I am back in DC and dud, where is the lake?! Rock Creek is cool but is no lake! I just came back from Maine. It's a place with LOTS of water to swim and play fetch with Marie and other dogs, and lots of rocks to climb. I even got into a canoe and traveled to an ocean island with a ferry boat! On our way to Maine and back, I saw lots of big cities: Boston, Philadelphia, and I even was a NYC dog for a day. Let me tell you, it's hard to find a bathroom spot there! I was such a good dog in the car, Marie let me sleep on the bed in the hotel, eheh, I sure took advantage of it." Oh, Atlas also sent pics! "But anyway, look at these pics of my water exploits. Marie has a new nickname for me: little wolf!"

Hmm, Hmm, what a wild dog this Atlas, I better keep an eye on him!

Y a pas d'lezards

Today Buja dreams of me!…this morning she saw a vet coming all the way from Belgium to help her and other animals in Bujumbura getting ready to go to Belgium when time comes. She got all her vaccines, her electronic ID, that little liquid product on her back to keep all the parasites away, and soon she will get her blood test and get fixed. I feel so lucky to have so many quadruped sisters!
In the meantime, Buja’s motto has become “y a pas d' lezards,” I’ll let you guess why…

Jaffar

African Edition

Hi Everyone!

So Buja, who is still in denial about her state of catness, went on a safari in Uganda and sent me very strange pictures: a lake full of salt, huge cats sleeping in trees, birds directing cows with funny horns, pumbas!, bird nests I could sleep in!, bird conferences, (Atlas,) the biggest floppy ears you will ever see, a batman cave, and monkeys doing yoga. Wouaaaaahaaahaaaaaaf, these pictures and videos are so funny, they make me woufless, check them out! http://marieinburundi.shutterfly.com/pictures/191

piu pui guerit dans son arbre, tse-tse flying cat

Look, piu piu est guerit et dans son arbre. He/she is a loyal bird and can be visited in Bujumbura!

Buja, on the other hand...might need to see a cat therapist. Just kidding, it's just I (Jaffar) have a lot of goofball competition here...she has earned a third (!) nickname: Tse-tse flying cat. At night, she jumps and flies around the mousquito net and play bite, which makes Marie very tired...Tse-tse flying cat. Buja chews more than she work on her claws. Buja, strong of her 4 languages learning, also insists on learning how to write. Buja, sister, you are not a dog, a fly, or a human. Although you sure make us all laugh when you try to impersonate us, and that makes you a great cat! Girl Power! (from Kira and Nala).

Breaking News!

Buja has acquired 2 nicknames: sneakerhead and pinknose. Sneakerhead because she puts her head in Marie's running shoe and goes around with a...sneakerhead. Pinknose because she has a VERY pink nose.

So, our united nations of a zoo is now composed of:

floppy ears (Atlas)
oreilles volantes/chicken alfredo (me Jaffar!)
sneakerhead/pinknose (buja!)
piu piu (the little bird Marie's office rescued and here is the other breaking news: piu piu is not sick anymore, eats and drinks alone, flies alone with other birds, and come say hi to the people who rescued him when they stop by his tree!)
On the look out for nick names for Kira and Nala...it's hard because they are such model global citizens! But we'll get there, I am sure.

Wouf,

Jafar

Another awesome blog to follow! +News

Well, I hope you find our blog awesome, but in any case this one surely is: http://luckydogsbarkout.blogspot.com/2011/06/sarge-reporting-for-duty.html
Don't miss out!

Other than that, Kira says Jaffar is a goofball and Jaffar says Kira is an angel. Mainil humans agree.

News from Buja. If anyone had any doubt the miss was determined to live in Marie's house, check this out. She is a tennis freak, and of course she is finding all necessary material to appease her tennis obsession at Marie's.

The united nations of a zoo has a new temp member, a little injured bird who is keeping company to Marie at work until he or she hopefully gets better. Looking for a name for that little piu piu. Suggestions welcome. Buja suggested "lunch" for a name but seriously, we can't let a cat weigh in on a bird name!

Jaffar and Kira

A United Nations of a Zoo

Meet Buja,

our second degree cousin in Burundi! She miawed at Marie's door, and didn't have much more to do to become one of us! Look at her...! Now, she is a very litterate--et precoce avec ca!--cat. She is brought up speaking French, English, Swahili, and Kirundi, and has you can tell, she is also an IT cat! (Either that or she has a way of telling Marie to stop working so much!).

Welcome to the family, Buja. I hear in a few months you might very well come and live with us: Jaffar, Kira, Nala (a cat, like you!), Speedy and Gonzalez the turtles, and all of the humans around. In the meantime, we send you hugs!

Sun in Belgium, what what?!

Ok, I know it will be hard for you to believe me but I have picture proves a l'appui:
1. There is sun in Belgium
Proof: Kira bronze.
2. My sister is a princess
Proof: to your left, and below

So the question is: if Kira is a princess, does it mean I get to be a prince? Even tough the only thing that makes me stop run after a rabbit is a big puddle of [smelly] mud? But I did take a bath right after! And even tough I have to wear this ridiculous underwear for a few days after my little surgery? Kira, what do you say?

Hmm, ok, since you are clean now and that your funny underwear is only temporary, you can be a prince.
Wouf and Wouaf, Jafar et Kira.

fun fact of the day!

Kira has a little injury on her nose and so when she goes outside she needs sunscreen. I asked for some too, because it's fun to try to catch our nose with our tongue!

Kira sourit! And I like Monkeys (the chunky kind).

Disclaimer: Chocolate is BAD for dogs, so I am not allowed to eat B and B Chunky Monkeys. So the best I can do is find the empty B and b countainer and pput my nose in it and smell the deliciousness!

It's picture day!! (Finally and as promised)

Je joue avec JED et cerf-volant...y compris a PIKABOO!!

Je veille sur Marie apres un long voyage. Ensuite, ma photo de jeune premier (remember, slow down ladies!)

Wouaaa, après toutes ses émotions I am tired!

Il est donc temps de piquer un roupillon, y compris avec ma nouvelle sister Kira!
Now, an update on my sister: I think she is starting to like the house a lot because yesterday she just would not go outside, except on the terrasse! I think she is also going to be the dog pack leader for a while when I am still a teenager. More pictures of Kira and us soon, promise.
